Recommendation for a HEPA filter

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there has a good recommendation for a good HEPA filter? My son's naturalpathic doctor recommended the "Austin Air Filter" and "1Q Air". Does anyone have one? If so, do you like it.

We tried the HEPA filter from Sharper Image and later learned that it produces a small amount of ozone, so we returned it this summer. Thank goodness we only used it for a month.

Thx!

I have an Austin Air Filter for my bedroom only. I like it. I don't find the noise distracting for myself when trying to sleep. I haven't had to clean it at all besides getting the dust off the outside edges.

Does it help with your allergy? And does it help indirectly with your tics? If yes, motor or vocal? My son is allergic to dust, dustmite, grass, tree, pollen, weed and mold.

Sorry for the long and detailed questions. I am desperately trying to find some answers for my son.

Thx!

My allergy treatment not only consists of the air filter, but also allergy shots and elimination of some of the foods. So it's hard to say how much of the improvement depends on the air filter. However, all around, allergy treatment helps with my tics a bunch. I was able to come off of meds after starting allergy treatment about 2 years ago.

Carolyn,

I am so glad to hear that you are able to find an alternative treatment to replace the conventional medicine.

How long do you think it take to see a decrease in your tics after you seek out alternative treatments and controling your allergy problems?

I am anxious to know how much time I should allow to see some results. I know everyone is different, but it is good to have a time frame. It gives me hope to push forward.

Patty,

After I started allergy shots, acupuncture, the air filter, etc. I was med free in about eight months. I took several months going off the Clondine, and actually didn't go off of it right away. I was already on supplements long before the allergy treatment. It probably took about a month before I started noticing a decrease in tics.
